The zkSync Era Ethereum Layer-2 scaling protocol has celebrated its one anniversary by showcasing its accomplishments in the last year of competing in the L2 arena.
Using the twitter platform, the protocol said that since its inception on March 24, 2023, it has made many advancements, including delivering the ZK Stack, a modular foundation for creating sovereign hyperchains.
Significant Advancements
Over the last year, zkSync Era has implemented the Boojum Proof System to assist its validators in reducing hardware needs. This is due to the fact that Layer-2 scaling solutions are specifically intended to assist with transaction throughput, an area where Ethereum often fails.
The Transaction Per Second (TPS) surpassed 188 during the 2023 Inscription Event, which was a notable performance milestone. The biggest Code4rena audit competition, which zkSync also held, had a prize pool of almost $1.1 million.
According to analytics platform L2Beat, zkSync Era is presently ranked third for L2 performance, with an average TPS of 16.23, an increase of 16.94% over the last week. In the last seven days alone, zkSync Era has processed 37.77 million transactions.
The newly released Ethereum Dencun Upgrade seems to have benefited the Ethereum L2 to a large extent. The protocol was already more user-friendly than it had been a year before its unveiling, when transaction prices on zkSync Era fell to as little as one penny. With an eye toward the future, zkSync Era lays out its next big objective: to give its full attention to the Zero Knowledge (ZK) component of its vision.
