WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear Facebook’s Meta (NASDAQ:) bid to dismiss a private securities fraud lawsuit accusing the social media platform of misleading investors in 2017 and 2018 about improper use of its user data.
The justices heard Facebook’s appeal of a lower court ruling allowing a shareholder lawsuit filed in California and led by United Bank (NASDAQ:) to continue. The court will hear the case in its next term, which begins in October.
