FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Tesla’s (NASDAQ:) German plant near Berlin could have power again from Monday, the power company responsible for resolving an ongoing blackout that has shut down the plant since March 5 said.
E.dis, a unit of German energy grid company E.ON, said late on Sunday that fast installation work over the weekend meant there was a possibility of supplies resuming in the evening hours on Monday.
The company said this is subject to high voltage testing as well as formal approval from engineers, which is expected to be carried out throughout the day.
The news of the imminent restoration of power comes after the head of the works council at Tesla’s German plant said on Friday that the plant would resume operations this week, without giving a specific date.
The outage is costing Tesla about 1,000 cars a day that it cannot produce, with the head of the plant saying last week that supply disruptions would cause damage in the triple-digit millions of euros.
