TOKYO (Reuters) – SoftBank Group Chief Executive Masayoshi Son said on Friday the group’s mission is to advance human progress by creating artificial superintelligence that he said will exceed human capabilities by 10,000 times.
“SoftBank Group (TYO:) has done many things so far that have become a warm-up for my great dream of realizing artificial intelligence,” Son told shareholders at the group’s annual general meeting.
According to him, artificial superintelligence could appear within 10 years.
The tech investor’s artificial intelligence (AI) ambitions are powered by its subsidiary. Hand Holdings (NASDAQ:), a British chip designer whose designs are used in the data center infrastructure that underpins artificial intelligence, Son said.
