BERLIN (Reuters) – The German Football Association (DFB) announced that the American sportswear giant Nike (NYSE:) will become their official supplier from 2027, ending a long-standing partnership with German firm Adidas (OTC:).
On Thursday, the German Football Association said Nike would supply all national teams between 2027 and 2034, making the best financial offer.
“The upcoming partnership will allow the DFB to work on key objectives over the next decade to develop football in Germany,” DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said in a statement.
Germany used Adidas products en route to all four World Cup titles from 1954 to 2014. In 2019, the company signed a four-year contract extension that expires in 2022.
“Until December 2026, we will work as hard as we can for our shared success with our long-time and current partner Adidas, to whom German football owes a huge debt of gratitude after more than seven decades,” Neuendorf said.
Germany, whose football association is the world’s largest with more than seven million registered members, will host Euro 2024 from June 14 to July 14.
