DUBAI (Reuters) – Qatar Airways is in talks with aircraft makers Airbus and Boeing (NYSE:) about a major order for wide-body jets, its chief executive said on Monday.
CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer told reporters that reports that the airline was in talks with Airbus to order wide-body A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft were largely correct.
Bloomberg News reported Sunday that the airline is in talks to buy about 200 planes, split between Airbus and Boeing. Al Meer confirmed negotiations for a three-digit order, but said the number of aircraft in question had been reduced by about 30%. He declined to say whether the figure was higher or lower than reported.
