Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in indices and sectors led shares higher.
At the end of trading in Tokyo they added 2.14%.
The best performers of the session were Tokyo Electron Co.,Ltd. (TYO:) which rose 11.25% or 2,740.00 points to trade at 27,100.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kyocera company. (TYO:) added 8.05%, or 125.00 points, to close at 1,678.50 and Renesas Electronics Corp. (TYO:) was up 7.00% or 141.50 points to end at 2162.50.
The worst performance of the session was Nexon Co Ltd. (TYO:) fell 2.92% or 67.00 points to trade at 2227.50 at the close. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Co.,Ltd. (TYO:) fell 2.73%, or 62.50 points, to finish at 2,229.00 and Nippon Yusen K.K. (TYO:) fell 2.49%, or 133.00 points, to 5,207.00.
By 2012, on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the number of rising stocks outnumbered falling stocks, reaching 1,609, with 263 remaining unchanged.
The index, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose 4.54% to 22.78.
Oil for February delivery fell 0.08%, or 0.06, to $73.50 a barrel. In commodities, Brent crude for March delivery was unchanged 0.00%, or 0.00, at $76.30 a barrel, while February gold futures rose 0.23%, or 6. 16, and traded at $2,653.56 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.13% at 157.80 and EUR/JPY was up 0.22% at 164.12.
US Dollar Index futures fell 0.10% to 107.99.
