Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in indices and sectors led shares higher.
At the close of trading in Tokyo, quotes rose 1.27%.
Top gainers of the session were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:), which rose 6.64% or 19.00 points to trade at 305.00. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Company, Inc. (TYO:) added 6.11% or 54.10 points, ending trading at 939.60 and IHI Company (TYO:) was up 5.72%, or 219.00 points, at 4048.00 in late trade.
The worst performance of the session was Tokyo Electron Co.,Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 2.52% or 870.00 points to trade at 33,630.00 at the close. Omron Kor (TYO:) fell 1.83% or 96.00 points to finish at 5,138.00 and Bandai Namco Holdings Inc. (TYO:) fell 1.65%, or 48.00 points, to 2,862.00.
Advancing shares outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3,143 versus 554, while 176 ended unchanged.
The index, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose 4.88% to 17.62.
Oil for July delivery fell 0.17%, or 0.13, to $77.78 a barrel. In commodities trading, Brent crude for August delivery fell 0.04%, or 0.03, to $81.85 a barrel, while the August gold futures contract fell 0.09%, or 2.20. , up to $2,364.30 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY rose 0.08% to 156.93 and EUR/JPY fell 0.05% to 169.78.
US Dollar Index futures rose 0.14% to 104.80.
