Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in indices and sectors led shares higher.
Tokyo closed up 0.25%.
The best performers of the session were Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 7.79% or 249.00 points to trade at 3446.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Taisei Company (TYO:) added 5.52% or 288.00 points, ending trading at 5,508.00 and Kajima Company. (TYO:) was up 4.81%, or 144.00 points, at 3,137.00 in late trade.
The worst performance of the session was Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which fell 8.78% or 623.00 points to trade at 6476.00 at the close. Isuzu Motors, LLC. (TYO:) fell 3.67%, or 75.00 points, to finish at 1,971.00 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (TYO:) fell 3.53%, or 78.50 points, to 2,143.50.
The number of advancing stocks on the Tokyo Stock Exchange outnumbered the number of declining ones since 2,137 to 1,485, with 248 ending unchanged.
Shares of Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:) rose to a 5-year high; adding 7.79% or 249.00 to 3446.00. Kajima Corp. shares (TYO:) rose to a 5-year high; rose by 4.81% or from 144.00 to 3137.00.
The index, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose 2.40% to 20.87.
Oil for April delivery rose 0.84%, or 0.66, to $79.59 a barrel. In commodities, Brent crude for May delivery rose 0.31%, or 0.26, to $83.53 a barrel, while April gold futures rose 0.04%, or 0.80. and traded at $2,166.00 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY fell 0.06% to 147.93 and EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 161.94.
US Dollar Index futures were down 0.00% at 102.77.
