Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday as sector and sector losses dragged shares lower.
At the close of trading in Tokyo, quotes fell 1.22% and reached a new monthly low.
The top gainers of the session were Resonac Holdings Corp (TYO:), which rose 11.98% or 415.00 points to trade at 3,887.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Co.,Ltd. (TYO:) added 4.60% or 90.00 points to close at 2,052.50 and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:) was up 3.35%, or 45.00 points, at 1,387.00 in late trade.
The worst performance of the session was Lasertech Corp. (TYO:) fell 7.85% or 3,190.00 points to trade at 37,510.00 at the close. LY Corp (TYO:) shares were down 5.32%, or 19.10 points, to finish at 339.00. Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:) fell 4.94%, or 100.50 points, to 1,931.50.
Declining shares outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2,883 to 775, with 208 ending unchanged.

The index, which measures implied volatility in Nikkei 225 options, rose 6.20% to 22.09, a new three-month high.
Oil for May delivery fell 0.55%, or 0.47, to $84.89 a barrel. In commodities trading, Brent crude for June delivery fell 0.43%, or 0.39, to $89.63 a barrel, while the June gold futures contract fell 0.61%, or 14.75. , and traded at $2393.05 per troy ounce.
USD/JPY fell 0.08% to 154.59 and EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 164.18.
US Dollar Index futures rose 0.05% to 106.12.
