Investing.com – India equities were lower at the close on Tuesday as sector and sector losses dragged shares lower.
At the NSE close, the index was down 0.04% while the index was down 0.15%.
Top gainers of the session were Tata Consumer Products Ltd (NS:), which rose 4.06% or 44.10 points to end at 1,131.00. Meanwhile, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. (NS:) added 56.50 points, or 2.95%, to finish at 1,972.45. Bharat Petroleum Shares Corp. Ltd. (NS:) were up 2.56%, or 15.40 points, at 616.10 in late trade.
The worst performance of the session was Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) fell 2.43% or 113.80 points to trade at 4566.95 at the close. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:) decreased by 1.90%, or 33.95 points, ending trading at 1,756.75, and HKL Technologies Ltd (NS:) fell 1.59% or 24.75 points to 1,531.95.
The top gainers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:), which rose 2.89% to close at 1,970.70, Nestle India Ltd (BO:), which rose 1.42% to close at 2,622.70, and IndusInd Bank Ltd. (BO:). shares rose 1.11% to close at 1,558.25.
The worst performer was Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (BO:), which was down 1.79% at 1,757.40 in late trade, HCL Technologies Ltd (BO:), down 1.53% to settle at 1,532.60, and ICICI Bank Ltd (BO:) :), whose shares fell. 1.52% to 1082.50 at close.
Advancing stocks on the Indian National Stock Exchange outnumbered declining ones by 1,714 at 481, while 36 remained unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2,743 were up, 961 were down and 98 ended unchanged.
The index, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, fell 3.56% to 11.65, a fresh three-month low.
Gold futures for June delivery rose 1.07%, or 24.05, to $2,281.15 a troy ounce. In commodities, crude oil for May delivery rose 2.07%, or 1.73, to $85.44 a barrel, while the June Brent contract rose 1.88%, or 1.64. to $89.06 per barrel.
USD/INR rose 0.05% to 83.41, while EUR/INR fell 0.35% to 89.61.
US Dollar Index futures fell 0.07% to 104.69.
