Guernsey Post, the postal service for the island of Guernsey in the Channel Islands, is set to become the first postal operator in the British Isles to introduce crypto stamps, merging traditional stamp collecting with digital non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Launching later this month, these limited-edition, non-postage crypto stamps will feature the Golden Guernsey Goats, Billy and Nanny. Each physical stamp will have a corresponding digital twin stored on the blockchain, accessible via a QR code. Bridget Yabsley, Head of Guernsey Stamps and Collectables, expressed excitement about entering the digital market, aiming to attract both traditional stamp collectors and digital enthusiasts. The collaboration with Stampfinity aims to expand their audience and enhance the global community of collectors. The physical stamps will have a traditional design, while their digital counterparts will feature modern, abstract art styles. The NFTs will have varying rarity levels, adding an element of surprise and exclusivity for collectors.
