BANGKOK (Reuters) – Forty-three people on board a Singapore Airlines (OTC:) flight that hit severe turbulence remain hospitalized in Bangkok four days after the emergency, a hospital in the Thai capital said on Saturday.
The 43 patients are being treated at three different hospitals in Bangkok, Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital said in a statement.
At Samitivej Srinakarin Hospital, which has 34 patients, seven are in intensive care – three Australians, two Malaysians, one British and one New Zealander, it said.
The other 27 patients who arrived at the hospital included eight British nationals, six Australians, five Malaysians and two Filipino nationals, the statement said.
Two people were discharged from Samitivej Srinakakarin Hospital and two from Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital were transferred to Samitivej Srinakakarin Hospital to join hospitalized relatives, it said.
On Thursday, hospital director Samityvaj Srinakarin told reporters that 22 patients had spinal cord injuries and six had brain and skull injuries, but none were life-threatening.
One passenger died of a suspected heart attack and dozens were injured on Tuesday after Singapore Airlines flight SQ321 from London to Singapore encountered what the airline called sudden severe turbulence while flying over Myanmar.
The flight, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, diverted to Bangkok for an emergency landing.
